One idea I've thought of is that, probably the most important sessions to do together as a club are the tough interval sessions, as people have shown preference to either track and or hill reps. Ideally not on consecutive days.
I've never been on a Thursday night as I'm always working, so I'm not sure how many go. Their were a few suggestions about doing a harder hill type session on a Thursday if people wanted it.
I know whatever we suggest, it is going to suit some more than others, regarding work or location.
So what I suggest, probably just through the winter is to do both track and hills on Tuesday and Thursday, but alternating each week so one week track tues/ hills thurs following week hills tues/track thurs. This means each week most members should be able to make at least one tough group session each week. And if some can only make one day, they get a mix of sessions.
If people want we can also arrange a group run on another night maybe.
Please give feedback, but remember there is no I in team! If you think about what would work best for yourself and also the club. This is what I'm trying to achieve. Bare with.

From a personal perspective that would be good for me - more chance to run a weekly hard interval session with the club (I can't always make a Tuesday) and some weeks could maybe do both. Wouldn't want to disrupt the current Thursday session however, which I've also not been to...yet.

I think that the location of the thursday sessions lends its self to people doing a variety of stuff. A couple of weeks ago a small group of us did hill reps on penylan hill at the same time as the other club run. So we saw other club members but managed to get a hill workout as well.

From a purely personal perspective that sounds great. With that routine I'd expect to join in with Tuesday sessions pretty much every week and Thursday maybe every other week.

But I've never been on a Thursday either, largely because I prefer to do some kind of interval or hill session to complement the Tuesday one. The suggestions of incorporating a speed session into the usual Thursday runs are potentially interesting, but I guess there's only a limited range of sessions that would be compatible with a group run? Very happy to be informed otherwise :)

Obviously from a club perspective it's important that the people who attend and enjoy the current Thursday runs still get to do a run they enjoy too. Would there be enough people free on Thursdays for two completely separate Thursday groups?

I do go up on a Thursday sometimes and like the run from penylan community centre in the winter (much nicer than eastern) although summer around the lanes is lovely. I think that there are people that do like to 'go for a run' with others on the Thursday as opposed to doing reps so personally I'm not sure of the best approach from now until perhaps April...perhaps meet at the community centre on Thursday and then there is a choice for those wanting to run socially and those that do hill reps..Thursdays vary (when I've been on a Thursday there's been between 10-20 people with quite a few women out on this night..)

Thanks guys. More feedback the better. Like I said I can't go Thursday so people that do, feedback from you guys would be good. 2 options on a Thursday may be the answer.
Not sure exactly the date but this will only be until it is light enough to do as we did last summer and meet at the museum. To do road intervals.

If it is thought valuable that interval/hill sessions are timed and recorded we need volunteers to do some timing for additional days.

Dom

I am currently in no fit state to be "hurting" on either the track or the hill, so happy to help with timing/recording next week.

Let us know in work

My thoughts are that Thursday is a social run night but if several people on the night wish to do some form of speed work - hills/fartlek - then thats fine. I don't see that it needs to be pre-organised or timed (other than self-timed). Personally I would turn up on a Thursday and do what the consensus of those who run with me would prefer.

Thanks Ian. Can you change the 27th January on the club session list to hill reps. Then we will go back to track on Tuesday's and Thursday's will be group run/fartlek/hill reps depending on the consensus on the night.
